Intermittent use of theseveral pneumatic equipments causes problem of fluctuating air pressure. It begins with the sudden air demand pulling down the pressure at the point ofuse. The air compressors get to know about it when this air demand travels to the upstream generation sidethrough the distribution network. Control mechanism of the air compressor then starts delivering compressedair in the form of load/unload or VSD. Practically it takes a while for the entire air system to fill up to therequired pressure. Thus the compressor operators maintain higher level of pressure in the air system to minimize the lag in the response time between demand and supply to sustain a sudden demand. Thus more compressors are needed to meet this artificial demand causing wastage of compressed air and leading to anenergy inefficient system translating into high-energy bills!
ControlAir Intelligent Flow Controller (IFC) controls the air flow and pressure being delivered to the plant. It operates at the intermediate point of the compressed air system, i.e. on the downstream of Dryers/Receiversand upstream of main piping distribution system.
ControlAir IFC creates useful storage, which isolates compressors from demand side peak and trough to providea stable air supply at optimum pressure. The peak demand instead of starting additional compressors is satisfied by it as it monitors demand side rate of change of pressure and releases only required amount of storage air. Thusreduction in mass of air and reduction in load period of compressors leads to energy savings.

ECT is the Evaporative Coil Cooling tower which is an induced draft counter flow design Closed Circuit Cooler.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION:

Heat from the Process Fluid is circulated through the coil of the closed circuit cooler gets dissipated through the coil tubes to the water cascading downward over the tubes. Simultaneously, air is drawn from air inlet louvers from the base of the cooler and travels upward over the coil. A small portion of the water gets evaporated and the warm moist air is discharged to the atmosphere which removes the heat from the process fluid.

FUNCTIONS & FEATURES:

STRUCTURE:

Frame All supporting structures are hot-dip galvanized steel to minimize rusting and corrosion ensuring long life.

Casing of the towers is made up of Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP). It is lightweight, easy to assemble, no painting required and thus reducing maintenance cost.

Inspection doors are furnished to provide convenient access to the interior for inspection, maintenance, adjustment of float valve, cleaning of lift-out strainer and flushing out the sump.

The designs of Evaporative (FRP) Cooling towers are of vertical induced draft counter flow with uniform water distribution and optimal heat transfer. They can be installed independent of wind direction. The casing of tower is made up of tough fiberglass and has sufficient strength to withstand high velocities and vibrations. They have leak proof water collection sump which avoids water spillage.

The tower's performance greatly depends upon the water distribution over the fills. SCSP nozzles distributes water evenly through a wide spray angle without any dry pockets. The towers consists of a fill is of rigid Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) and is of honeycomb design with very large contact surface area.

CASING:

The tower casing is made of tough fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) which provides sufficient structural strength to withstand high wind velocities and vibrations. UV - stabilized resin is used along with gel coat for longer life. It is resistant to local impacts and even if slight damage occurs, local repairs can easily be done. The portion of casing housing fill and eliminator has a round cross section. The water collection sump, also of FRP, is leak proof & avoids water spillage.

The tower's consists of a fill is of rigid Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) and is of honeycomb design with very large contact surface area. The fill splits the air and water into several streams, increasing the time of contact and also heat transfer between water and air. The fill is in modules and is packed in the tower casing without any cutting for curves. The air pressure drop through the fill is negligible. The fills are available with flute height of 6mm, 12mm, and 19mm with sheet thickness of 1mm and 1.2mm.

SPRINKLER:

The towers have automatic rotary sprinkler system which is made up of Nylon 66 material, with rotary head and sprinkler pipe distributes the hot water over the entire space of the filler. Sprinkler pipes are non-clogging, require low pressure to operate and assures uniform water flow with minimal operating pump head. The FRP eliminators attached to sprinkler pipe are specifically designed for low pressure drop and minimises the drift loss of water.

DRIFT ELIMINATOR:

The drift eliminator reduces carry over losses of water. It is made up of rigid PVC (Applicable for square type cooling tower). The individual drift eliminators of S-shaped corrugated sheets are bonded with subsequent layers to create the structure. The entire area is thus divided into several fine S shaped mini zones each removing water droplets on the entire surface of the cell.

AXIAL FAN:

These have specially designed energy efficient fans which are of induced-draft axial type with adjustable pitch. Material chosen are non corrosive of plastic, FRP or aluminium alloy. The high efficiency design ensures low running cost and the lowest possible noise level. Fan blade pitch is factory set and dynamically balanced.

MOTORS:

The motors are totally enclosed (IP55), flange type, 415 V, 3 ph, 50 Hz, induction weather proof with SS304 extended shaft and are specially designed for cooling tower application.

CORROSION FREE:

The tower casing is of FRP, fill and eliminator are of PVC, and SS304 fasteners are used, thus eliminating corrosion, the biggest enemy of cooling tower. All steel components such as motor support, water distribution pipes, hardware etc., are hot dip or spray galvanized.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION:

Heat from the Process Fluid is circulated through the coil of the closed circuit cooler gets dissipated through the coil tubes to the water cascading downward over the tubes. Simultaneously, air is drawn from air inlet louvers from the base of the cooler and travels upward over the coil. A small portion of the water gets evaporated and the warm moist air is discharged to the atmosphere which removes the heat from the process fluid.

FUNCTIONS & FEATURES:STRUCTURE:

Frame All supporting structures are hot-dip galvanized steel to minimize rusting and corrosion ensuring long life.

These have Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) casing. It is lightweight, easy to assemble, no painting required and thus reducing maintenance cost.

Convenient access to the interior for inspection, maintenance, adjustment of float valve, cleaning of lift-out strainer and flushing out the sump are provided by indoor fans.

AIR DISTRIBUTION:

These have weather proof type fan motors. The motors are mounted on easily adjustable base located inside the fan stack ensuring lower noise level. Fan are specially designed to be energy efficient which are of induced-draft axial type with adjustable pitch. Materials chosen are non corrosive of plastic, FRP or aluminium alloy. The high efficiency design ensures low running cost and the lowest possible noise level. Fan blade pitch is factory set and dynamically balanced.

DRY COOLING TOWER

Dry cooling tower's main function is to cool and maintain the temperature of process hot water at a particular level. It works on a principle of heat transfer and is driven by an electric motor. The wound copper tubes eliminate any unnecessary leakage after installation. The better heat transfer efficiency is provided by the tubes.

The positive and controlled expansion between the tube and fin provides a clean, smooth inner tube surface for water pressure drop and guarantees uniform heat transfer. The rigid galvanized steel frame provides protection against tube damage during expansion and installation. Also, it is mounted on a heavy duty channel base frame. The axial flow fans are noise-free. The minimum noise and increases efficiency is due to low speed of motor. Motors are specially designed to withstand moisture, rain and dust.

Godrej Electrical & Electronics offers ControlAir IFC Systems, which are very effective in saving energy in air compressors and improving performance of pneumatic equipment.
Due to intermittent use of the several pneumatic equipments the problem of fluctuating air pressure is faced by industries. It begins with the sudden air demand pulling down the pressure at the point of use. The air compressors get to know about it when this air demand travels to the upstream generation sidethrough the distribution network. Control mechanism of the air compressor then starts delivering compressed air in the form of load/unload or VSD. Practically it takes a while for the entire air system to fill up to the required pressure. Thus the compressor operators maintain higher level of pressure in the air system tominimize the lag in the response time between demand and supply to sustain a sudden demand. Thus morecompressors are needed to meet this artificial demand causing wastage of compressed air and leading to anenergy inefficient system translating into high-energy bills!
ControlAir Intelligent Flow Controller (IFC) controls the air flow and pressure being delivered to the plant. It operates at the intermediate point of the compressed air system, i.e. on the downstream of Dryers/Receivers and upstream of main piping distribution system.
ControlAir IFC creates useful storage, which isolates compressors from demand side peak and trough to providea stable air supply at optimum pressure. It monitors demand side rate of change of pressure and releases onlyrequired amount of storage air to satisfy the peak demand instead of starting additional compressors. Thus reduction in mass of air and reduction in load period of compressors leads to energy savings.
